Tennis, a sport renowned for its physical demands, also requires a profound level of mental acumen. This game, often played on a stage of intense pressure and high stakes, is not just a test of physical endurance and skill, but equally a challenge of mental fortitude and strategic thinking. In this blog, we delve into the often underappreciated yet crucial aspect of tennis – the mental game. As we explore these concepts, readers interested in the practical application of such mental strategies in competitive scenarios can check tennis bet site 1xbet for insights on how psychological factors influence real-time match outcomes.

In our blog, we’re going to look at how important a strong mind is in tennis. Let’s see how it helps players not just beat their opponents, but also deal with their own worries and doubts. We’ll talk about the mental challenges that both beginners and top players face and share some tips and tricks used by the best in the game.

We’ll also go over the important mental skills needed for tennis, like being able to focus, stay strong, control emotions, and think strategically. These skills are really important for all players, no matter their level, to keep their head in the game, bounce back after tough times, and stay mentally tough to play their best.

Understanding Tennis Psychology

Tennis isn’t just about being physically strong; it’s also about having a strong mind. Players need to keep their focus, handle stress, and think quickly during a game.

They need to pay attention for a long time, stay calm when stressed, and keep their spirits up through the highs and lows of a match. Tennis players also face challenges like dealing with big expectations, feeling alone (especially in singles matches), and fighting fears like the fear of losing or getting nervous about performing.

Understanding and working on the mental part of tennis is really important for playing better. If players work on their mental skills like staying focused, controlling their emotions, and thinking positively, they can improve a lot in tennis.

Mental training makes players mentally stronger. This helps them use their physical skills better, play consistently well, and have an advantage over players who may not be as mentally prepared. The best tennis players often stand out because they are mentally tough as well as physically skilled.

Key Psychology Skills for Tennis Players

In tennis, being mentally strong is just as important as being physically fit. Players need to be able to focus really well. This means paying attention to each point and each game without getting distracted. Being confident is also key. Players who believe in themselves are better at taking smart risks and getting over tough times quickly.

Controlling emotions is another big part of tennis. Players who can stay calm, especially in important matches, often do better. It’s also about handling the ups and downs that come with playing sports. Being resilient, or able to recover from losses, is a big sign of a strong-minded athlete. When players work on these mental skills and make them a regular part of how they think and play, they can really improve their game and become top players.

Focus and Concentration

Focus and concentration are very important for tennis players. In tennis, matches can last a long time and happen in different conditions, so being able to stay focused is key. This means players need to pay attention to what’s happening now and not get distracted by things like the audience, the weather, or how famous the opponent is.

Concentration in tennis means using your mind to think about strategies, make decisions, and hit the ball well. It’s not just about watching the ball and where the opponent is, but also about thinking ahead and planning your next moves. Players can improve their focus and concentration by doing things like mindfulness, setting up routines, and practicing visualization, where they picture themselves playing well in their minds.

These techniques help players get into a state known as ‘the zone’. In this state, they react almost without thinking, and they are very aware of everything happening in the game. Being good at focusing and concentrating helps players play their best, especially when there’s a lot of pressure in competitive tennis.

Confidence and Self-Belief

Confidence and believing in yourself are really important for any tennis player, and they can make a big difference in how well they play. It’s not just about how good your skills are or how fit you are; it’s also about feeling sure about what you can do. Players who are confident go into games thinking positively. They see hard moments as chances to do well, not just problems.

These players trust their training and their ability to play, which helps them make quick decisions and hit the ball better. But confidence can change; it can go up or down depending on how you’re doing, what others say, and what you think about yourself. So, to keep confidence up, players need to work on their mindset all the time.

They tell themselves good things, set goals they can reach to keep getting better, and learn from mistakes without feeling bad about themselves. When players really believe they can do well, they’re more likely to work hard and stay focused on their goals. This can lead to doing well, which makes them even more confident.

Emotional Control

Emotional control is a critical aspect of tennis psychology, pivotal in determining a player’s success on the court. In the high-stress, fast-paced environment of a tennis match, players often face a rollercoaster of emotions ranging from excitement and elation to frustration and disappointment. Mastering emotional control involves the ability to maintain composure, even in the face of errors or unexpected challenges posed by an opponent.

It’s not about suppressing emotions, but rather understanding and managing them effectively. This skill allows players to stay focused, make strategic decisions under pressure, and prevent negative emotions from impacting their performance.

Techniques such as deep breathing, positive self-talk, and mindfulness are often employed to aid in regulating emotions. By mastering emotional control, players can maintain a level-headed approach, ensuring that their emotions serve as a source of strength rather than a hindrance.

The Role of Motivation and Goal Setting

In the realm of tennis psychology, the role of motivation and goal setting stands as a cornerstone for player development and performance. Understanding the nuances of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation is vital. Intrinsic motivation, driven by an internal desire for self-improvement and passion for the game, fuels a player’s long-term engagement and satisfaction.

Conversely, extrinsic motivation, spurred by external rewards such as trophies or rankings, can provide immediate but often short-lived incentives. The art of setting effective and achievable goals lies at the heart of sustaining motivation. These goals, both short-term and long-term, need to be:

  • realistic,
  • measurable,
  • and aligned with the player’s abilities and aspirations, providing a clear roadmap for progress.

Moreover, maintaining motivation during training and competitions is a dynamic process. It involves adapting to challenges, celebrating small victories, and learning from setbacks. Players who master the interplay of motivation and goal setting find themselves not only excelling in skill but also enjoying a more fulfilling athletic journey. This balance is crucial for both the mental and physical aspects of tennis, making it a fundamental topic in tennis psychology.

Conclusion

In simple terms, the combination of being motivated and setting goals is really important in tennis. It helps players grow and play their best. Understanding what drives a player, both from inside (like love for the game) and outside (like winning trophies), is key. Setting good goals that can be reached shows players the way to success and makes them feel good about their game.

Being able to keep up this motivation, especially when training is hard and matches are tough, is what makes a player stand out. Tennis is not just about hitting the ball with a racket; it’s also about being mentally strong, thinking smartly, and controlling your feelings. This all comes together when players are motivated and have clear goals.

For everyone involved in tennis, knowing about these mental parts can make players better and the game more enjoyable. In the end, being mentally strong in tennis is as important as being physically strong. Players need to take care of their minds just like they take care of their physical and Tennis Psychology skills.

Saroj Khan, name born Nirmala Nagpal; (November 22, 1948 – July 3, 2020) was a leading Indian dance choreographer in Hindi cinema. She was born in the state of Bombay (today Maharashtra), India. With a career spanning over forty years, she has choreographed more than 2,000 songs. She died on July 3, 2020 of sudden cardiac arrest.

Saroj Khan began her career as a child artist at the age of three with the film Nazarana as a baby Shyama, and was a long-distance dancer in the late 1950s. She learned dance by working with the film choreographer B. Sohanlal, whom she married at the age of 13 when he was 43 and was already married with 4 children whom she did not know at the time of the marriage. After their separation,

Saroj Khan married businessman Sardar Roshan Khan in 1975. They were fortunate to have a daughter, Sukaina khan, known to run a dance institute in Dubai. Later, she moved on to choreography, first as an assistant choreographer and later, getting her break as an independent choreographer, with Geeta Mera Naam (1974). However, she had to wait many years to be acclaimed, which came with her work with Sridevi; Hawa Hawai in Mr India (1987), Nagina (1986) and Chandni (1989), and later with Madhuri Dixit, starting with the hit Ek Do Teen in Tezaab (1988), Tamma Tamma Loge in Thanedaar (1990) and Dhak Dhak Karne Laga in Beta (1992). Subsequently, she became one of the most successful choreographers in Bollywood.

In 2014, Khan again worked with Madhuri Dixit in Gulaab Gang. She was on the advisory board of Rishihood University.

In April 2018, Khan made statements defending the practice of couch casting, stating that the film industry provides people with jobs and “does not rape or abandon them.” Following an online backlash, she apologized for her comments.

Saroj Khan was admitted to Guru Nanak Hospital in Bandra, Mumbai on June 17, 2020, due to breathing difficulties, and died of a cardiac arrest at 1:52 am IST on July 3, 2020. She was 71 years old and leaves in mourning his son Hamid Khan and his daughter Sukaina Khan.

Reliance Industries Ltd will acquire German firm Metro AG’s wholesale operations in India for Rs 2,850 crore as the conglomerate run by billionaire Mukesh Ambani seeks to strengthen its dominant position in India’s mammoth retail sector.

Reliance Retail Ventures Limited (RRVL), a subsidiary of Reliance Industries Ltd, today signed definitive agreements to acquire a 100 per cent equity stake in Metro Cash & Carry India for a total cash consideration of Rs 2,850 crore, subject to closing adjustments,” said a joint statement.

Through this acquisition, Reliance Retail will get access to a network of 31 large format Metro India stores located in prime locations across key cities, along with a large base of registered kiranas and other institutional customers, and a strong supplier network.

“The acquisition will further strengthen Reliance Retail’s physical store footprint and ability to better serve consumers and small merchants by leveraging synergies and efficiencies across supply chain networks, technology platforms and sourcing capabilities,” it said.

The deal comprises the operative business of all 31 Metro India stores as well as the real estate portfolio that includes 6 store-occupied properties.

The transaction is subject to certain regulatory and other customary closing conditions and is expected to complete by March 2023, it added.

Commenting on the development, RRVL Director Isha Ambani said: “The acquisition of Metro India aligns with our new commerce strategy of building a unique model of shared prosperity through active collaboration with small merchants and enterprises.” Metro India is a key player in the Indian B2B market and has built a solid multi-channel platform delivering a strong customer experience.

“We believe that Metro India’s healthy assets combined with our deep understanding of the Indian merchant / kirana ecosystem will help offer a differentiated value proposition to small businesses in India, she added.

Metro AG CEO Steffen Greubel said:” With Metro India, we are selling a growing and profitable wholesale business in a very dynamic market at the right time. We are convinced that in Reliance we have found a suitable partner who is willing and able to successfully lead Metro India into the future in this market environment.” In a separate statement, the German retailer said Metro India will complement Reliance Retail’s retail network in the future.

“All Metro India stores will continue to operate under the Metro brand during an agreed transition period,” it said adding ” For Metro employees and Metro customers, there will be no noticeable changes for the time being.” In the financial year 2021/22 (FY ended September 2022), Metro India generated sales of Rs 7,700 crore, which was its best sales performance since its market entry into India. The German retailer said it aims for a leading market position in wholesale and due to the increasing market consolidation, accelerated digitalisation and intense competition, Metro India operations would not fit Metro’s core growth strategy in the future.

“Therefore, further growth for Metro India would be best achieved with an owner who has a more suitable network and presence in India,” it said.

Greubel said due to the market dynamics a sizeable investment would be required to further grow the business.

“Therefore, now is the right time to use the momentum and open a new chapter for Metro India. We are convinced that in Reliance we have found a suitable partner who is willing and able to successfully lead Metro India into the future in this market environment,” he added.

Reliance is India’s biggest brick-and-mortar retailer with over 16,600 stores, and a strong wholesale unit would further deepen its operations in India.

Metro is a leading international specialist in wholesale and food retail in over 30 countries.

Metro Cash & Carry, its wholesale division, entered India in 2003 and currently operates 31 wholesale distribution centres across the country, serving business customers only.

Its sells products such as fruits and vegetables, general groceries, electronics, household goods and apparel to clients like hotels, and restaurants as well as offices and companies, small retailers and Kirana stores.

Reliance Retail, the oil-to-telecom conglomerate’s retail arm, is ranked 56th amongst the top global retailers with USD 18 billion in revenues.

It is the world’s second-fastest-growing retail company behind only South Korea’s Coupang.

Indian retail is a Rs 60 lakh crore market with food and grocery constituting 60 per cent of it. Organised retail is expected to be 12 per cent of the entire retail segment.

Reliance already has a 20 per cent market share in the organised food and grocery business, with a store count nearly triple that of its nearest competitor ‘More’ in the segment.

It this month forayed into FMCG with the launch of the brand ‘Independence’ for staples, processed foods, beverages and other daily essentials, rivalling the likes of ITC, Tata Consumer Products Ltd, Patanjali and Adani Wilmar.

The B2B segment is considered to be a low-margin business and multinationals such as Carrefour have exited from the country.

While E-commerce major Flipkart Group has acquired a 100 per cent stake in Walmart India Pvt Ltd, which operates the Best Price cash-and-carry business.

Reliance Retail is a subsidiary of RRVL, the holding company of all the retail companies under the RIL group.

RRVL had reported a consolidated turnover of around Rs 2 lakh crore for the year ended March 31, 2022.

Earlier, in August 2020 Reliance announced a Rs 24,713-crore deal to acquire the retail business of the Kishore Biyani-led Future group. The deal was to acquire 19 Future group companies operating in the retail, wholesale, logistic and warehousing segments.

The deal was called off by Reliance Industries in April this year after it failed to get lenders’ support. PTI KRH AMS

A Beginner’s Guide on How to Trade Options in India: Options Trading has been quite popular in India in recent days. Because of the pandemic situation, a lot of new and existing traders have been able to understand and learn this new craft of trading (Options Trading).

Nonetheless, as the skills and steps required to trade Options is not taught in schools or academics, most beginners find it difficult to learn how to trade options in India. Therefore today, we are going to explain the step by step process on how to trade options in India in the easiest possible words. Let’s get started.

Brief Overview of Options Trading

The most common concept that most of you must have heard about trading via options is the power to leverage.

Leveraging in terms of Options trading would simply mean, the power to trade at higher capacity then what the direct value of trade would allow. Let us understand this with the help of a simple scenario from day-to-day life.

Say, Ram has a wedding in his house two months down the line and for the purpose of the wedding, he needs to get 100 grams of Gold. The current price of 10gms of Gold is Rs. 50,000. However, Ram is a little skeptical about the volatility in the market and wants to lock in the current price of Gold, to be bought two months down the line. Therefore, with the objective of freezing the price of gold, he visits the jewelry shop and puts forward his proposition of buying the gold at the current price, two months down the line.

But looking at the current volatility, the jewelry shop owner is a little skeptical of taking the risk of fixing the price of Gold. Therefore, to incentivize the Jewelry shop, Ram pays him certain token money (say, Rs. 2000 per 10 gm of Gold) to fix the price of Gold. Therefore, the total money paid by Ram to enter the agreement with the jewelry shop owner is Rs. 20,000.

Let’s suppose, if upon expiry (i.e. after two months) if the price of gold goes above Rs 50,000 (per 10 gm), then Ram will exercise his right to buy the gold at Rs. 50,000. However, if the price of gold after two months remains unchanged or goes down, then Ram is not obligated to honor the agreement. He merely stands to lose the token money (Rs. 20000), which he paid to enter into the agreement. And that becomes the income of the Jewelry shop owner.

For example, if the price of Gold were to increase to Rs. 57,000 for 10 grams, then the overall benefit of Ram will be –

= Total gold * (Price after two months – Current price – Premium paid) = 10*10*(57,000-50,000-2,000) = Rs. 50,000.

Now, if I were to relate this example to options, then the Ram is the Option buyer, the Jewelry shop owner is the option seller, Gold is the underlying asset, the current price of gold is the Strike price and token money paid is the option premium.

A similar scenario is also applicable to the stock market. Here, if the option buyer believes that the price of a share may go higher in the future (through his analysis or study), he/she may pay a premium to the options seller to enter in a contract to buy the stocks at the pre-decided value. Further, the premium paid might be an expense, however, if the share price goes way above the pre-decided agreement price, then the option buyer will make profits.

Basic Options Trading Definition

To define in financial terms, Options are a derivative instrument that gives the right to option buyer to buy the underlying asset at a pre-decided price from the option seller, on or before expiry.

However, the option buyer is not obligated to honor the contract upon expiry. He has the right to buy the asset if he chooses to. However, if he does not wants to buy (in case the current price goes below the pre-decided value), he will simply lose the premium paid beforehand.

Nevertheless, the Option seller is obligated to honor the contract as he/she has taken a premium at the starting of the agreement. And the option seller is compensated in the form of this fee (or premium) to give up his right on underlying assets till the expiry of the contract.

How to Trade Options In India?

Now that you have understood the basics of Options Trading, we’ll be covering how to trade options in India next.  For the sake of reference and explanation, I will be using the trading portal of Zerodha (Kite) in this article, as it is the most commonly used trading platform in India. Following are the step by step procedure to trade options in India.

Step 1: You need to have a trading account with one of the brokers (For example, Zerodha, Angel broking, 5Paisa, etc.). If you don’t have one, here’s an article on the best discount brokers in India so that you can pick the one that suits you the best. The steps to trade options in India are almost same in any trading platform you chose.

Step 2: We need to have a margin in our trading to be able to trade options. Based on the position taken by the investor, the margin requirement varies. Option buyer needs margin to pay for the premium required to trade options. And option seller needs margin as they have to keep certain money with brokers to account for Marked to Market (M2M).

Step 3: Next, we need to understand as to what is our view on the underlying asset. If we have a bullish view, then we can buy a call option (or sell put option) and if we have a bearish view, then we can express the same by either buying a put option (or selling a call option).

“Buying a Call option gives us the right to buy the underlying asset on or before expiry. And Buying a Put option gives us the right to sell the underlying asset on or before expiry”

Step 4: Select the underlying asset you chose to trade and also select the various strike prices that we choose to trade upon. For example, here’s a screenshot from Zerodha Kite where you can choose the asset and strike price.

Now, say we are looking to trade Nifty 50 Contract via Option and we have a bullish stance on the market. Therefore, we could trade In the Money Call Option (Nifty 11450 CE), At the Money Call Option (Nifty 11500 CE) or Out of Money Call Option.

It is advised to not to go too out of money while buying an option as the chances of them expiring in the money by expiry, is very less and more often than not, they expire worthlessly.

Step 5: Let’s say, we decide to go ahead and buy an At the Money option. Then, the next step in this process is to place an order to buy the option. We can choose to buy the option at the existing price and we can also choose to place the order at a specified price by placing a limit order.

Therefore, if you look at the ticket in the image above, we have two options to buy the contract from i.e. Market or Limit.

If we choose the option of market order then the order is executed at the current market price. And if we choose Limit order, then we can choose the price at which we want to buy the contact. In the image above, the current rice of the contract 11500 call option is 90.65, but the price at which we want to buy the contract is 80.

The total number of shares in one contract of nifty is 75. If the option premium is 60, then the total amount of premium required to buy the contract will be = 75*60 = 4500. And this information is directly available on the ticket shown above.

Step 6: The next step while trading options is to check in the order book if the order has been placed.  We can do that by simply clicking on the orders tab and we can see the list of all the order which have been placed or canceled or executed.

Step 7: The last but the most important step while trading options is to monitor the existing position in the market. It is always advised to have a stop loss for every trade as it will help us in having good risk management and also prolong one’s trading career.

That’s all. This is how you trade options in India. If you still have any doubts, I will strongly recommend you to also watch the below video on how to trade options using Zerodha kite Demo. This video will help you even more to learn the steps for Options trading in India. Watch it Now!!

Closing Thoughts

In this article, we discussed how to trade options in India through a step-by-step guide. Here are the key takeaways from this article:

  • Options are derivative products that derive their value form the value of the underlying asset.
  • Call options give us the right to buy the underlying asset upon expiry. On the other hand, Put options give us the right to sell the underlying asset upon expiry
  • Bullish views can be expressed by either buying a call option or selling a put option.
  • Bearish views can be expressed by wither buying a put option or selling a call option.
  • One can use the Zerodha platform to trade option as it is very user friendly and there is rarely any delay in the order execution.

List of Nifty 50 Companies to learn Nifty Constituent Stocks by Weightage (Updated): Nifty 50 is the benchmark index of the National stock exchange (NSE) in India. Basically, an index is the stock exchange creating a portfolio of the top securities held by it based on market capitalization in the respective category (entire market or sector-wise).

These indexes are useful because they provide investors and companies with a reliable benchmark. They have also been used as an investment strategy. In these cases, Investment Managers just set up their fund portfolios to simply track the index. They use the same portfolio as the index in an attempt to gain similar market returns.

Indexes play an important role as they also stand in the representation of a country’s market and economy. Today, we observe NSE’s benchmark index namely the Nifty 50. We take a look at the companies they have included along with the weights assigned to each.
