Is YouTube not working? Have no fear, we’ll get you back to watching those cat videos soon enough. It’s possible that YouTube is down for everyone, but the problem is more likely on your end.

Whether videos are endlessly buffering, the YouTube app isn’t loading, or something else entirely, our troubleshooting steps for desktop and mobile should help you get YouTube working again.

First, Check If YouTube Is Down

It’s rare for YouTube to have a complete outage, but it has happened before. The first thing to check before anything else is whether the problem is with YouTube itself, rather than anything on your side.

Two sites to help you do that are Downdetector and Outage.Report. They crowdsource user reports to show you what issues are being reported and from where in the world.

When YouTube has major downtime, news outlets will also report on it. The quickest way to check is by going to Google News and searching for “YouTube down” or “YouTube outage”.

Have you established that YouTube seems to be working for others? If so, crack on with these troubleshooting steps.

How to Fix YouTube on Desktop

If you’re using YouTube via a desktop browser, follow these steps to try to fix YouTube.

1. Update Your Browser

You should always be using the most up-to-date version of your browser. Most popular browsers like Chrome and Firefox should automatically update, but it’s always best to double-check this.

For Chrome, paste chrome://settings/help into the URL bar and press Enter. You should see “Google Chrome is up to date”. If you don’t, the latest build will automatically download. Once it’s finished, click Relaunch.

For other browsers, see our guide on how to update your web browser.

2. Clear Your Cookies and Cache

Try clearing your cookies and cache to clean out the browser.

On Chrome, paste chrome://settings/clearBrowserData into the URL bar and press Enter.

On the Time range dropdown, select All time. Check Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files. Click Clear data.

For other browsers, read our guide on how to delete internet cookies.

3. Disable Extensions

Browser extensions can cause compatibility problems with YouTube.

To view your extensions in Chrome, paste chrome://extensions/ in the URL bar and press Enter.

Disable each extension in turn by clicking the slider so it turns gray. After each, try YouTube again and see if the problem is fixed. If it is, keep the extension disabled, and try contacting the developer to see if they can patch the issue.

For other browsers, check out our guide on how to clean up your browser extensions.

4. Update Video Drivers

If your video drivers are outdated, it can cause issues playing videos. Try updating them to see it resolves the issue. First, grab the latest drivers from your manufacturer’s website (e.g., AMD, NVIDIA, Intel).

Then, press Windows key + X and click Device Manager. Double click Display adapters. Then right-click your graphics card and click Update driver. Click Search automatically for drivers and follow the wizard through.

For more support, check out our guide on how to update your Windows graphics drivers.

5. Check Your Internet Connection

Even if you can access other websites, it doesn’t mean your internet connection isn’t at fault. It might not be stable enough to stream YouTube. Use Windows’ native troubleshooter to detect and resolve problems.

Press Windows key + I to open Settings:

  • On Windows 10, go to Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters > Internet Connections > Run the troubleshooter.
  • On Windows 11, go to System > Troubleshoot > Other trouble-shooters > Internet Connections > Run.

If this doesn’t work, see our article on diagnosing a network problem for more advice.

How to Fix YouTube on Android and iOS

If you’re using YouTube on an Android or iOS device, like an iPhone or iPad, try these troubleshooting steps.

1. Update Your Operating System

Your operating system may be outdated and thus YouTube is unable to run correctly.

3 Images

On Android, open Settings and look for Software update (or System update.) It might be within an About phone section. If there’s a new version available, download and install it.

On iOS, go to Settings > General > Software Update and download and install an update if there’s one available.

2. Update the YouTube App

The YouTube app should always be running the latest version so you can benefit from the latest features and bug fixes.

3 Images

On Android, open the Play Store, tap your profile icon, and select Manage apps and device. Next, tap Updates pending and, if YouTube is here, tap Update.

On iOS, open the App Store and tap the Updates tab. If you see YouTube on this list, tap Update.

3. Clear the YouTube Cache and Data

If you have been using the YouTube app for a while, a large amount of cache and data could have built up and be causing issues.

3 Images

On Android, go to Settings > Apps > YouTube > Storage. Tap Clear cache and see if it fixes the problem. If not, return here and tap Clear data.

On iOS, the best way to do this is to uninstall and reinstall YouTube. Press and hold the app on your home screen and tap Delete. Then head to the App Store and download YouTube again.

4. Sync the Date and Time

The YouTube app can have problems if your device’s date and time is out of alignment with that of the YouTube server. The best way to resolve this is to allow your network to automatically handle the date and time.

3 Images

On Android, go to Settings > General Management > Date and time and slide Automatic date and time to On.

On iOS, go to Settings > General > Date & Time and slide Set Automatically to On.

5. Check Your Internet Connection

YouTube might not be working if your internet is struggling to connect properly. On Android, go to Settings > Connections. On iOS, go to Settings.

First, turn Flight mode on and off. This can often refresh your network settings and solve the problem. Next, try connecting via Wi-Fi or your phone network (whichever one you aren’t using by default). If this doesn’t work, try disabling Bluetooth.

3 Images

Still no luck? You can reset your network connection entirely. On Android, go to Settings > General Management > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

On iOS, go to Settings > General Settings > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

Enhance YouTube With Extensions

Now you’ve followed these instructions, hopefully YouTube or the YouTube app is working again. If it isn’t, you should contact Google for further support.

Assuming YouTube is working again, why not make it even better? You can do so with YouTube web apps and extensions that allow you to clip videos, search text within videos, add notes to videos, and more.

Do you lose connection to Riot’s servers when the League of Legends’ matchmaking process begins? Does it disconnect mid-gameplay? These issues usually occur when your internet connection isn’t strong enough to keep you connected to Riot’s servers. However, there could also be several other factors at play.

As such, we will examine all possible reasons for League of Legends disconnecting from Riot’s servers on Windows. Moreover, we will provide you with fixes you can apply to resolve this annoying issue.

Why Is League of Legends Disconnecting, and How Can You Fix It?

The League of Legends client randomly disconnects when you’re not connected to the internet or your connection drops or weakens. Other causes of this issue include Riot servers being down, Windows Defender or firewall blocking your connection, a problem with the game’s client, your router blocking the game’s connection, or interference from your ISP.

To fix the League of Legends disconnecting issue, you should ensure you’re properly connected to the internet, the connection isn’t weak or unstable, the Riot servers aren’t down, whitelist the game from Windows Defender or antivirus to rule out their interference, resolve League of Legends client issues, and check for router or ISP problems.

But First, Some Preliminary Checks…

Take the following steps before leaping into more complex troubleshooting tricks:

  • Log out and back into League of Legends.
  • Close the League of Legends game client and reopen it.
  • Turn your router off and on again.
  • Reset your network settings if you recently tweaked them.
  • Restart your device to rule out temporary OS bugs.
  • If you have a VPN enabled, disable it.
  • Disable any active proxy settings on Windows, if you have one.

If none of these do the trick, it’s time to start performing some more complicated fixes.

1. Ensure the Problem Isn’t on Riot’s Side

Because League of Legends is always online, everything is dependent on Riot’s servers to run properly. Therefore, you should ensure the problem isn’t originating from the backend. Follow these steps to confirm that:

  1. Go to the Riot Games Server Status website.
  2. Choose the language (in which you usually play the game)
  3. Check the Recently Closed and Current Messages sections for any issues reported.Checking Riot Games Server Status on Official Website

If other users have reported a similar problem, rest assured that your connectivity issues stem from Riot’s servers, and not from your PC. All you have to do is wait for the problem to be resolved automatically.

2. Rule Out Internet Issues

If Riot servers are fully active, your internet might be the problem. Test your internet speed using free internet speed test websites and ensure it’s properly connected.

If the internet is connected and the connection is stable, clear the DNS cache. To do that, type “Command Prompt” in Windows Search and open the Command Prompt appEnter “ipconfig /flushdns” and press Enter.

If the internet isn’t connected or is unstable, follow these steps:

  • Double-check that your PC is connected to the right Wi-Fi signal.
  • Fix any Wi-Fi connection instability for a more stable connection.
  • If possible, connect to the internet via an Ethernet cable.
  • Close the bandwidth-hungry processes running in the background behind League of Legends.
  • Disconnect other devices sharing the same connection so that your primary device has maximum bandwidth.

Proceed to the next step if the above checks and fixes do not help.

3. Connect to a Different Network

If you keep getting disconnected in League of Legends, you can temporarily connect to a different internet connection, such as your mobile data. After changing the network, run the game again.

If you do not experience the same issue on a different network, the problem lies with your primary internet connection. It could be a hardware issue with your router, a restriction from your ISP, or something else. You should have your ISP representative inspect your internet to rule out all of this.

However, if the problem persists after changing the internet, the OS must be at fault.

4. Whitelist the League of Legends on Windows Defender

Due to League of Legends’ online nature, tens of requests are communicated between your device and Riot servers every second. Wide-scale communications can cause Windows Defender’s firewall or your antivirus to consider this activity harmful and block the connection after a certain number of requests.

To rule out this possibility, you should whitelist League of Legends from Windows Defender. Our guide on whitelisting apps in Windows Defender can help you do that. If you are using third-party antivirus software, consult its documentation to work out how to whitelist League of Legends.

You will need to whitelist the EXE file, so here is the path to the executable:

C:/Riot Games/League of Legends/

If whitelisting the app doesn’t help, the problem lies with the client files.

5. Repair Any Corrupt Game Files

It’s common for game files to corrupt occasionally, and this, in turn, can cause instability. Fortunately, you can perform an automatic game repair to check for any bad files. Here’s how:

  1. Launch the League of Legends client.
  2. Click the gear icon in the top-right corner to open Settings.
  3. From the left sidebar, select the General tab.
  4. Then click on the Initiate Full Repair button.Running a Full Repair of League of Legends Client
  5. Afterward, follow the on-screen instructions to fix your files.

6. Report the Problem to Riot Games

Have none of the above fixes worked, and your game still disconnects randomly? Report the problem to Riot support. The support team will help you identify and resolve the root cause. All you need to do is to submit a ticket on the League of Legends support website.

If the support team asks about logs, run the Hextech Repair tool and send the data over.

Fix the League of Legends Disconnecting Issue

Disconnecting from your game when you are about to defeat your friends can be extremely frustrating. Hopefully, the fixes in this article will help you fix this annoying problem and establish a stable connection to Riot servers. If nothing works, reinstall the game.

Many Mac owners complained about not being able to use their AirPods with Zoom. That’s a major issue especially if you use Zoom for work-related purposes.

Maybe you can’t use your Macbook’s built-in speakers because other colleagues are working around you. Or you’re discussing sensitive information and you want to prevent eavesdropping.

In this guide, we’ll show you how you can properly connect your AirPods to Zoom.

How to Fix AirPods Issues with Zoom on Mac

Disconnect Your AirPods from other Devices

First things first, unpair your AirPods from any other devices that they might be connected to. If your earbuds are connected to multiple devices, you may experience interference issues.

The quickest way to do that is to simply disable the Bluetooth feature on the other devices. In this manner, your AirPods will connect only to your Mac (the only device with the Bluetooth active).

Set Up Your AirPods in Zoom’s Audio  Settings

In order to use your AirPods with Zoom, you need to set up the earbuds directly in Zoom’s audio and speakers settings.

Connect your AirPods to your Macbook, and make sure the pairing was successful. Hit the pairing button on the back of the AirPods case. Wait until the light starts blinkings white.

  1. Go to Apple → System Preferences.
  2. Click on the Bluetooth icon and ensure your AirPods are visible on the list of your connected devices.
  3. Launch Zoom and click on Zoom.us (top left corner).
  4. Then select Preferences.
  5. Click on Audio.
  6. Under Speaker and Microphone, select your Airpods.

This indicates Zoom to use your AirPods for rendering audio and capturing audio input.

Note: You can set Zoom to use two different devices for audio. For example, you can use an external mic for capturing audio while using your Airpods as your speaker. Simply select the devices you want to use under Speaker and Microphone settings.

Allow Zoom to Access Your Microphone

Make sure you set up the right permissions on your Mac so as to allow Zoom to access your microphone (AirPods). Navigate to your OS permissions and let Zoom use your microphone.

It is worth mentioning that MacOS now prompts you to authorize Zoom to use your microphone and camera. Without these permissions, Zoom won’t be able to access your mic and camera.

  1. Click on the Apple menu.
  2. Go to System Preferences.
  3. Then click on Security & Privacy.
  4. Select the Privacy tab.
  5. Click on the lock icon to unlock the setting changes.
  6. Select the Microphone.
  7. Tick the Zoom checkbox to allow the program to use your mic.

You can then set your AirPods to work as your microphone, just as previously described.

Delete Your Zoom Folder under Application Support

If the problem persists, try deleting the Zoom folder located under Application Support.

To access the Library, press the Options key and click on the Go menu while holding down the Options key.

Select the Library → go to Application Support → select Zoom.

Sometimes, that folder may get corrupted. Deleting it should fix the problem.

But if the issue is still there, try uninstalling Zoom after you deleted that folder. Download the program again and install it. Check if you can now use your AirPods on Zoom.

There you go, one of these solutions should fix the AirPods-Zoom problem on your Mac.
