Many Mac owners complained about not being able to use their AirPods with Zoom. That’s a major issue especially if you use Zoom for work-related purposes.

Maybe you can’t use your Macbook’s built-in speakers because other colleagues are working around you. Or you’re discussing sensitive information and you want to prevent eavesdropping.

In this guide, we’ll show you how you can properly connect your AirPods to Zoom.

How to Fix AirPods Issues with Zoom on Mac

Disconnect Your AirPods from other Devices

First things first, unpair your AirPods from any other devices that they might be connected to. If your earbuds are connected to multiple devices, you may experience interference issues.

The quickest way to do that is to simply disable the Bluetooth feature on the other devices. In this manner, your AirPods will connect only to your Mac (the only device with the Bluetooth active).

Set Up Your AirPods in Zoom’s Audio Settings

In order to use your AirPods with Zoom, you need to set up the earbuds directly in Zoom’s audio and speakers settings.

Connect your AirPods to your Macbook, and make sure the pairing was successful. Hit the pairing button on the back of the AirPods case. Wait until the light starts blinkings white.

  1. Go to Apple → System Preferences.
  2. Click on the Bluetooth icon and ensure your AirPods are visible on the list of your connected devices.
  3. Launch Zoom and click on Zoom.us (top left corner).
  4. Then select Preferences.
  5. Click on Audio.
  6. Under Speaker and Microphone, select your Airpods.

This indicates Zoom to use your AirPods for rendering audio and capturing audio input.

Note: You can set Zoom to use two different devices for audio. For example, you can use an external mic for capturing audio while using your Airpods as your speaker. Simply select the devices you want to use under Speaker and Microphone settings.

Allow Zoom to Access Your Microphone

Make sure you set up the right permissions on your Mac so as to allow Zoom to access your microphone (AirPods). Navigate to your OS permissions and let Zoom use your microphone.

It is worth mentioning that MacOS now prompts you to authorize Zoom to use your microphone and camera. Without these permissions, Zoom won’t be able to access your mic and camera.

  1. Click on the Apple menu.
  2. Go to System Preferences.
  3. Then click on Security & Privacy.
  4. Select the Privacy tab.
  5. Click on the lock icon to unlock the setting changes.
  6. Select the Microphone.
  7. Tick the Zoom checkbox to allow the program to use your mic.

You can then set your AirPods to work as your microphone, just as previously described.

Delete Your Zoom Folder under Application Support

If the problem persists, try deleting the Zoom folder located under Application Support.

To access the Library, press the Options key and click on the Go menu while holding down the Options key.

Select the Library → go to Application Support → select Zoom.

Sometimes, that folder may get corrupted. Deleting it should fix the problem.

But if the issue is still there, try uninstalling Zoom after you deleted that folder. Download the program again and install it. Check if you can now use your AirPods on Zoom.

There you go, one of these solutions should fix the AirPods-Zoom problem on your Mac.

I’ve owned multiple iPhone models over the years. I’m really fascinated by the fluidity and overall design of the OS. But there’s one thing that I really hate about iOS devices — and that’s the charger. It breaks right when I need it most. More specifically, the cable breaks around the USB output.

How Long Should an iPhone Charger Last?

On average, an iPhone charger lasts one year in perfect working condition. After one year or so, the cable part near the port starts fraying.

In extreme cases, the cable sheath may expose the conductors inside. And that’s when using that cable becomes dangerous.

Don’t wait until your charger becomes unusable or potentially dangerous to use. Go to an official Apple Store or an Apple authorized reseller and buy a new charger.

Of course, there are also users who relied on the same charger for years on end without any issues. How long your iPhone charger lasts also depends on how you use it.

What Breaks Your iPhone Charger?

Your iPhone charger may break quicker or last longer depending on how much you use it. If you charge your iOS device two or even three times a day, the charger itself and the cable will wear out faster.

If you often bend the cable, the wire inside also gets bent back and forth. This will weaken and break the cable much faster.

Then, you need to store the charger in a well-ventilated place. Don’t place it on the window sill in direct sunlight. Don’t let it in the car to bake in the sun. Don’t place it near heat sources or areas where there’s water moisture in the air.

If your electric service often undergoes spikes, this could quickly break the charger. And you’ll start seeing black marks on the charging pins.

How to Take Care of Your iPhone Charger so That It Lasts Longer

To Coil It or Not to Coil It

Take good care of your charger when storing it, and especially when you’re traveling. When you wrap the cable around the charger tightly, the wires inside get bent. And the risk of the wires breaking and splitting increases. Use a cord winder instead.

Don’t Stretch the Cable

Avoid stretching the cable. And please don’t let the iPhone hang down from the charger. Make sure it lies flat and straight and there’s no tension in the cable when charging your device.

Be Gentle

When you insert the charging end, don’t just press it into the phone. Also, when you remove it, don’t yank on the cable. This will damage the charging pins.

These tiny details can make a big difference in increasing your charger’s lifespan.

My iPhone Charger Cable is Useless. Now What?

As stated at the beginning of this post, it’s always best to purchase an original iPhone charger and cable to replace the broken pieces. But you can also go for a third-party charger.

Buy a Third-Party iPhone Charger

iPhone chargers are sleek and stylish but they tend to break easily. That’s why many users prefer to purchase a third-party charger to replace the broken one.

If you’re planning to do the same, make sure the charger is Apple certified. Don’t purchase counterfeit or uncertified chargers. Such devices could permanently damage your iPhone.

Apart from that, counterfeit chargers often get very hot, and you might not be able to sync your data. And some won’t even fit properly into your iPhone. Or even worse, some may short circuit and melt on your desk.

Spring enforced cables tend to be more reliable and enjoy a longer lifespan compared to regular cables. So, do buy a charger with a spring enforced cable.

Conclusion

If you want to extend your iPhone charger’s lifespan, use your device properly and with respect. That sentence pretty much sums up all the pieces of advice we gave you in this guide.

As people spend more and more time hooked to their screens, phone manufacturers decided to add bigger displays. But bigger devices are quite hard to operate single-handedly. This is where PopSockets enter the scene. These accessories can help you get a better grip on your device. They’re primarily used as a grip or a stand for mobile devices.

Let’s say you bought a new device and you want to remove the PopSocket from your old phone to attach it to your new device. Well, removing a PopSocket is not an easy task. You need a lot of patience, dexterity, and the right tools to get the job done.

How Can I Safely Remove a Popsocket?

  • Step 1: Collapse the PopSocket.
  • Step 2: Move your fingernail around the PopSocket to detach it from your phone. Long fingernails are perfect for this task.
  • Step 3: Gently pull the PopSocket away from your device.
  • Step 4: Attach the accessory to your new device.

Don’t wait for too long. You should attach the PopSocket to your new device within a 10-minute window. The adhesive gel is reusable by design but will quickly dry out in contact with air.

⇒ A quick tip: You can also use dental floss to remove your PopSocket. Gently slide it under your PopSocket until you manage to detach it from your phone.

Magnetic PopSockets Are Easier to Remove

If you find it difficult to remove sticky PopSockets, maybe you should switch to a magnetic PopSocket. Magnetic PopSockets don’t attach to your phone case with glue. They rely on magnets, which means that you can remove them effortlessly. Of course, they’re not as strong as adhesive-based PopSockets. If you don’t buy a new phone every two months, you should go for a sticky PopSocket.

Conclusion

To remove your PopSocket from your phone, first, you need to collapse it. Then, move your fingernail around it until you manage to detach it from your device. Alternatively, you can slide dental floss underneath your PopSocket. Be sure to attach it to your new device before the adhesive gel dries out.

One of the selling points of many Razer peripherals is the RGB lighting that comes with them. On Razer keyboards, each key has its own configurable backlight so you can configure the lighting of your keyboard key-by-key.

The lighting functionality is managed through the Razer Synapse 3.0 software in one of two places.

Basic lighting settings

The basic lighting settings can be found in the “Lighting” sub-tab of the “Keyboard” tab and applies to the entire keyboard at once. Here you can configure the brightness of the keyboard backlighting in the “Brightness” box and choose between any of the “Quick Effects” in the “Effects” box.

The “Quick Effects” are a series of predefined backlighting effects that you can choose between. Generally, you can make minor configuration changes, such as the colours being used or the speed of transitions between colours. These effects are designed to be quick and easy to apply.

For example, in the “Spectrum Cycling” setting, you can’t configure any additional settings. In the “Starlight” setting, however, you can configure the colour of the twinkling lights and how long they last before fading.

Advanced lighting settings

You can configure more advanced lighting settings if you enable “Advanced Effects” in the “Lighting” sub-tab of the “Keyboard” tab and then switch to the “Studio” tab. Here you can see a representation of the keyboard, select any combination of keys and any combination of advanced lighting effects.

To select a set of keys that you want to apply an effect to, either click and drag a box over them, or use Ctrl + Left click. Once you’ve selected a group of keys to affect, click on an effect in the bottom-left corner, under “Add Effect”.

Tip: Selected keys will be highlighted with a green outline.

When you add an effect, it will appear in the top-left column as a layer. You can stack as many layers of effects as you want, although certain combinations will essentially hide everything below them.

For example, in this setup, the whole keyboard has four effects applied: An overall rainbow spectrum cycling, a random reactive colour when a key is pressed, then a pair of rainbow ripple effects. The cycling rainbow sets the background, and the other effects are placed over the top on the specific keys that they temporarily affect, essentially being transparent the rest of the time. If the spectrum cycling effect was listed on top, the other effects would not be visible as it sets a colour to all keys at all times.

You can choose to disable a layer by clicking the eye symbol on the left, or you can click and drag them to re-order the list. If you want to change the effect of a layer you can choose a different one using the respective triple-dot icon. You can rename or delete a layer by right-clicking on it.

You can configure how the effect in a layer looks by using the column on the right. The exact settings vary for each effect, but the concepts are generally similar. For the “Reactive” setting you can configure the colour that a key changes to when it is pressed, and how long that colour lasts before returning to a “transparent” state.

You can select a colour with the drop-down box in the “Color” section or tick the checkbox for a random colour. To configure the duration of the effect, drag the “Duration” slider from left to right.

The changes you make in the right column only apply to the currently selected keys and layer. This means you can configure one layer that addresses each half of the keyboard with a different variation of the effect. This can get complex to manage if you configure many different sections independently as there is no visual indication of which area is which.

The combined effect of your current settings is previewed in the on-screen keyboard representation. If you’re happy with how it looks, you can apply your changes to the keyboard by clicking “Save” in the bottom-right corner.

Samsung’s Galaxy S22 lineup is some of the world’s most powerful and incredible devices. The company has taken immense strides to provide more software features than you can think of.

While the camera system on the Galaxy S22 is already pretty wonderful, did you know that you can use your phone to make animated GIF? The best part is that you don’t need to download any other apps and can do so right from your phone.

How to Make Animated GIF with Smart Select

Thanks to the integration of Edge Panels and Smart Select, you can make animated GIF with just a few taps. You’ll first need to turn Edge Panels on and make sure that the Smart Select panel is enabled.

  1. Open the Settings app on your Galaxy S22.
  2. Tap Display.
  3. Scroll down and tap Edge Panels.
  4. Tap the toggle next to Edge Panels to turn this feature on.
  5. Tap Panels.
  6. Make sure that Smart Select is enabled.
  7. Close the Settings app.

Now that Edge Panels and Smart Select have been enabled, here’s how to use these features to make an animated GIF:

  1. Navigate to the page that you want to take a screenshot of.
  2. Open the Edge Panel with a swipe from the side of the screen.
    • You should see a small outline of a box indicating where Edge Panels reside.
  3. Swipe again until you see the Smart Select panel.
  4. Select Animation.

After being selected, a box will appear on your screen. This box can be resized to fit the size of the area that you want to make out of a GIF. Then, tap where it says High Quality. From here, you can select the quality of the GIF that you are trying to create. Once selected, tap the Record button, and when you’re done, tap the Done button.

Once you’re finished recording, you’ll be presented with a preview of the created GIF. There is a toolbar at the bottom that allows you to edit, share, or save the GIF. You can also pin or insert the GIF via the button at the top of the preview.

How to Make Animated GIF In The Camera App

If you want to record an unforgettable moment and make animated GIF, you can do so right from the Camera app on your Galaxy S22. And here’s how:

  1. Open the Camera app on your Galaxy S22.
  2. Tap the Gear icon in the top left corner.
  3. Under Pictures, tap Swipe Shutter button to.
  4. Tap Create GIF from the drop-down menu.
  5. In the top left corner, tap the arrow to exit the Camera Settings.
  6. From the Camera app interface, swipe down on the Shutter button to begin.
  7. Release the Shutter button when you want the GIF to end.

After you make Animated GIF in the camera app, it will automatically be saved to your Gallery. From there, you can make any edits, including adding some emoji or text or just share it with friends and family.

How to Make Animated GIF From Photos

The final option if you want to make animated GIF on your Galaxy S22 doesn’t require much work at all. In the event that you have taken a series of photos, your Galaxy S22 can turn this into a GIF.

  1. Open the Gallery app on your Galaxy S22.
  2. Long-press on one of the images in your gallery.
  3. Tap to select the images that you want to be used to create the GIF.
  4. In the bottom toolbar, tap the More button.
  5. From the pop-up menu, tap Create.
  6. From the Create New menu, tap GIF in the bottom left corner.
  7. Review the created GIF.
  8. Tap Save or Share in the top right corner.

When you are reviewing the created GIF, Samsung also offers a toolbar at the bottom. This can be used to make various edits, which includes adding more images, changing the rotation, adjusting the speed, or even allowing you to draw and doodle. Once your edits are made, tap the Done button, and then you can save it or share it with friends.

Third-party Apps

In the event that you are frustrated with trying to use Samsung’s built-in tools to make animated GIF, you’re in luck. The Play Store is filled with plenty of different apps that can help create masterpieces right from your phone. Here are a few of our favorites that you can try out:

  • Giphy: The world’s largest library of free GIFs, Clips, & Stickers! GIPHY for Android is the fastest, simplest way to search and share sort form content and animated reactions across all of your favorite social channels. Create your own GIFs and Stickers with our camera, or by uploading your own.
  • ImgPlay: ImgPlay provides a variety of powerful features when creating GIFs such as Video to gif, Photos to gif, and gif editor. You can cut a portion of your video to create a GIF, or select multiple photos to create a slideshow or GIF. You can also edit existing GIFs.
  • GIF Maker: Video To GIF: Easy-to-use GIF Creator, GIF Editor and Converter that help you easily to create, manage, convert, edit GIF files in high quality. This supports a bunch of editor/creator tools and no watermark.

Conclusion

If it wasn’t obvious by now, Samsung offers the most feature-rich experience that an Android phone (or tablet) has to offer. Frankly, we didn’t even know that you could make animated GIF just by selecting different pictures in your Gallery app. But it just goes to show how awesome the Galaxy S22 is. Let us know if you have any problems when it comes to creating GIFs on your phone, or if there is an app that we should check out.

]]>
Incognito mode is a feature included in many modern browsers that is designed to be a private browsing tool. It isn’t a security tool, however -using incognito mode will not prevent you from getting a virus, for example.

What does incognito mode do?

Incognito mode is essentially a new and temporary browsing profile. All cookies and data from your normal browsing profile are unavailable, so you’re not signed in to any of your accounts. While your incognito mode window is open, it will allow you to create new cookies and site data, so you can sign in to websites, however, all of this data will be deleted when you close the incognito window.

In incognito mode, your browsing history isn’t saved either. The back button will work in an open tab, but once a tab or window is closed you can’t get back to those pages without manually browsing there again.

Incognito mode is very useful if you want to log into a website with a second account or prevent a website from tracking which articles or products you are looking at.

For example, some websites limit how many articles you can read before having to pay for access. By opening an incognito window you can bypass the cookie that is used to track this. It also prevents advertisers from using your incognito browsing data to target you with ads. This means you can browse an online store with confidence that the things you look at will be noted as items you are interested in (unless you sign in).

Incognito mode isn’t completely private

While your browsing data is kept separate and then deleted on your device, this isn’t the case for other services. For example, your ISP or your employer (if you’re on a corporate network or device) can still see the network traffic you create in incognito mode.

If you allow any browser extensions, such as an ad-blocker to operate in incognito mode, there is no guarantee that it isn’t saving your incognito browsing data. Browsers can only delete the data that they themselves keep, so they can’t prevent extensions from monitoring you. To this end, a warning is shown whenever you allow a browser extension access to incognito mode – so you’re aware that your browsing may not be as anonymous as it should be.

Adverts on the internet can be a serious pain. Ads often are intrusive with flashing or moving images, some adverts include sound, and some adverts end up taking up most of or overlaying the entire page. The worst type of ads are known as malvertising and end up linking to malware. All of these ads get in the way of you accessing the content you wanted to view. You also need to download all of the adverts served to you, pushing up your data usage, which can be a problem on limited mobile or home internet data plans.

A common solution people turn to is an ad-blocker. These tools are extensions and add-ons for your browser that apply community-generated filter lists to hide and even block the download of ads. These community-generated blocklists are never going to be perfect, so occasionally you still run into an ad. Thankfully, ad-blockers like uBlock Origin allow you to manually block ads that you come across.

Element Picker

There are two relatively simple ways to block adverts with uBlock Origin. The first method involves using an element picker to highlight the part of the web page that you want to block. To use it you need to right-click on the advert you want to block and select “Block element…” with the uBlock Origin icon from the right-click menu.

In the bottom right of the page, an overlay popup will appear with a suggested network filter and a number of suggested cosmetic filters.

Tip: Network filters block requests from being made, preventing an ad from being downloaded. Cosmetic filters hide an element after it loads, this hides the ad, but it will still download. The element picker technique is more suited to creating cosmetic filters, while the network logger method is more suited to making network filters.

Tip: You can move the overlay if it’s covering the advert you want to block, by clicking and dragging it.

Clicking on the suggested cosmetic filters will highlight the section on the page that would be affected. Each entry in the suggested cosmetic filter list gets progressively less precise. The top suggestions will block a single element while the suggestions nearer the bottom may block entire columns or most of the page. Ctrl-clicking allows you to highlight all similar elements in the page

If none of the suggested filters highlights the part of the page you want to block, you can click outside of the overlay popup to enter the element picker mode. In this mode you can click or ctrl-click on the exact part of the page you want to block.

Once you’ve selected or customised the filter you want to apply, click “Create” in the overlay popup and your rule will be instantly applied.

Network Logger

The other method of blocking an advert is through the network logger, unfortunately, using it is less intuitive. You can open this by clicking on the uBlock Origin icon in the extension bar in the top-right of the browser, then clicking on the “Open the logger” icon that is second from the right at the bottom of the popup window.

Once the network logger is open, refresh the page you want to block an ad on. You can do this by switching back to the tab and refreshing it, or you can click the “Reload the tab content” icon in the network logger window.

The network logger shows a list of all requests made by the tab after the logger was opened. Unaltered requests will be coloured white, requests blocked by a filter will be highlighted red, cosmetic filters will be highlighted yellow, and explicitly allowed items will be highlighted green.

Next, you have to identify the advert or other item you wish to block from the network traffic. This can require trial and error, but generally, you’re looking for network requests that mention ads or come from a URL that matches a common ad or analytics network.

Once you’ve determined the request that you believe to be the advert, hover your mouse over the request and click on any of the three columns that highlight blue. These columns are the second, third and fifth columns from the left.

Clicking on any of those three highlighted columns will open the details view. To create a new rule, switch to the “URL rule” tab. Here you will see a breakdown of the URL that you selected, you can decide at what level you want to block it, ranging from that specific resource to everything from that domain.

Tip: Specifying the exact resource to block can result in you needing to block other resources from the same location, so it can be a good idea to block everything from a folder level or two down. Conversely, blocking everything from the domain can end up blocking too much, especially for first-party resources. A balance needs to be struck between the two approaches to block enough but not too much.

Next, you need to use the left column to specify whether you want to allow or block the resource, green means allow, red means block. The grey option in the centre means no-operations, which prevents other rules from acting on that resource.

If you apply a filter to anything other than the top row, which specifies the specific resource, the rule will be applied recursively up the list, as shown by the paler colour applied.

Near the top of the “URL rule” tab are two drop-down boxes, “Context” and “Type”. “Context” defaults to the rule only applying on the current subdomain, you can also select the current domain or all websites. The “Type” drop-down the box allows you to choose what type of resources the rule will affect; the default is the same type of resource you clicked on e.g. scripts or images. You can also apply it to any resource with the asterisk.

Slack is a reliable collaboration platform that allows you to communicate with your colleagues and work on common tasks and projects. Unfortunately, the service is sometimes affected by various issues, and users cannot connect to Slack’s servers.

More specifically, connection and login issues are some of the most common glitches affecting Slack. In this guide, we’ll explore how you can quickly troubleshoot them and regain access to your workspaces.

Fix: Cannot Connect to Slack on PC

⇒ Quick Notes:

about:blank

  • Go to www.status.slack.com and check if there are any known issues or notes about scheduled maintenance tasks.
  • Additionally, run the Slack connection test and contact your network admin if you get any errors.
  • Equally important, update your app and OS. To update Windows 10, go to Settings, select Update and Security, go to Windows Update and check for updates. Then click on your Slack desktop app menu, select Help, and Check for updates.

Check Your Connection

Make sure your connection is stable, and you’re not experiencing any bandwidth issues. Here’s what you can do to improve your network connection:

  1. First, restart your router or unplug the device if you haven’t done that in a long time.
  2. Wireless connections are more convenient, but they’re less stable compared to cable connections. If possible, switch to a cable connection or use a mobile hotspot and check the results.
  3. Additionally, disconnect other devices using the connection to free up more bandwidth for Slack.

Disable Security Settings and Programs

Your antivirus and firewall might be interfering with Slack blocking your connection request. The same is valid for your proxy settings and VPN. Disable your antivirus, firewall, and VPN (if you’re using one).

On a side note, the company confirmed the following programs can interfere with Slack connections: Avira Browser Safety, Browser Guard, Pokki, Smart Panel, spyware and adware, Visual Discovery by Superfish, Avast, McAfee, Norton, AVG, and AdBlock Plus. If you’re using any of these programs, whitelist Slack or temporarily disable them.

Then reset your network proxy settings:

  1. Type internet options in the Windows Search bar and double-click the first result.
  2. Click on the Connections tab and select LAN Settings.
  3. Enable Automatically detect settings.
  4. Disable Use a proxy server.
  5. Check the results. If the Slack connection issues persist, go back to Internet options, click on the Advanced tab, and hit the Reset option.

Check Your Browser

If the connection problems occur when you try to connect to Slask via your web browser, check your browser settings. Here’s what you need to do:

  • Enable Incognito Mode. Launch a new browser tab in Incognito Mode and check if you can connect to Slack.
  • Clear the cache. Your browser cache might be interfering with Slack’s scripts slowing down the connection, or even blocking it completely.
  • Disable your extensions. The same is valid for your extensions, particularly adblockers and privacy extensions. Turn off all your extensions, refresh your browser and check the results.
  • Update your browser. Makes sure you’re running the latest browser version on your computer. Outdated browser versions may sometimes cause connection issues.
  • Use a different browser. Maybe your current browser is affected by unexpected temporary glitches preventing it from properly connecting to Slack and other web pages. Switch to a different browser and check if the issue is gone.

Keep in mind that Slack supports the latest versions of the following browsers: Chrome (the only browser that supports Slack calls), Firefox, Safari, and Microsoft Edge.

Run the Slack Troubleshooter

Slack has a built-in troubleshooter that you can use to quickly optimize the app settings and automatically fix general issues.

  1. Launch the Slack desktop app and click on the menu (the three lines in the upper left-hand corner).
  2. Then navigate to Help and select Troubleshooting.
  3. Select Clear Cache and restart. Check the results.
  4. If the problem persists, reset app data.

Conclusion

To conclude, if you can’t connect to Slack, check the service status and make sure everything is up and running. Update the app, clear the cache, and disable your antivirus and firewall. If you’re using a VPN, disable it and check the results. Do you often experience Slack connection issues on your computer? If you found other solutions to fix this problem, share your ideas in the comments below.

If Microsoft Teams is changing your status to Away all the time, that’s really annoying. This prevents your colleagues from knowing for sure when you’re available and when you’re actually away from your computer.

Why Does Teams Automatically Change My Status?

Teams automatically changes your status to Away when your computer enters sleep or idle mode. The same thing happens when you lock your PC. The program takes these signals as proof of your unavailability and changes your status accordingly.

If Teams is running in the background and not actively using it, although you’re actively using other programs (so your computer is not idle), the status will still be changed to Away after five minutes.

On the mobile version of Teams, the status changes to Away when the app runs in the background.

Many users don’t quite agree with this approach and suggest that Teams should not set the status to Away as long as they’re actively using their devices.

Employees Get Reprimanded, but It’s Not Their Fault

Employees who are working remotely hate this feature even more. Many employers rely on their employees’ Teams’ status to check if people are actually working.

However, this inaccurate status could potentially get employees into trouble, especially if the employer does not quite understand how the automatic Away status works.

What to Do If Microsoft Teams Changes Status to Away

Update Teams

Make sure Teams is up to date to avoid any glitches related to outdated Teams versions. While the tool automatically searches for updates, you may want to manually check for updates from time to time.

Click on your profile picture and select Check for updates.

Install the latest Teams version if there’s one available. Restart your computer and check if the status problem is still there.

Set a Status Message

A handy workaround is to set a status message that your colleagues and managers will see when they message you or @mention you. Write something like ‘I’m available, feel free to contact me.’

  1. Click on your profile picture.
  2. Go to Set status message.
  3. Type your status.
  4. Check the Show when people message me option.
  5. You can also set the message to be cleared at the end of the day.
  6. Save the changes.

Use Third-Party Apps to Keep the System Available

Other users suggested that third-party apps such as Mouse Jiggler or Caffeine can prevent Teams from changing Away’s status. Basically, these tools automatically wiggle your mouse slightly or prevent the computer from going idle to keep the system available.

Use the MouseJiggler USB dongle

If you prefer to use a hardware solution, you can plug the MouseJiggler USB dongle into your USB port. The dongle will prevent your Status from changing to Away.

Don’t forget to unplug the dongle when your shifts end. Otherwise, you will continue to appear online and available.

Insert a Paperclip Beside the Insert Key

If you don’t want to install any third-party tools, or you can’t do that because your system is controlled by IT admins, you can simply grab a paperclip and insert it beside the Insert key on your keyboard.

In this manner, the key remains pressed down, and Teams will record constant keyboard activity. This should prevent your computer from timing out and Teams from changing your status to Away.

QuickBooks is one of the most popular accounting software on the market. It packs all the features that accountants and companies need to track the cash flow of small or medium-sized businesses. You can also use QuickBooks Online to store your data in the cloud and access it from multiple devices. But sometimes, users are unable to log in to their QuickBooks Online accounts. Either nothing happens when they hit the login button, or they get various error codes. Use the solutions below to fix the problem.

Why Can’t I Log in to QuickBooks Online?

Use a Different Login Link

If you can’t log in to QuickBooks using the sign-in link you’d normally use, utilize an alternative link. Navigate to https://qbo.intuit.com, or https://quickbooks.intuit.com/sg/ and check if you can sign in.

Use Incognito Mode

Launch your browser, open a new tab and click on More options. Open a new Incognito window and check if you can log in. If you can access your account, your cache and extensions are probably interfering with the scripts QuickBooks is trying to run on the page. Clear the cache, disable your extensions and check the results.

Clear the Cache

To clear your cache and cookies on a Chromium-based browser, click on More options, select History, and go to Clear browsing data. Next, delete your cache and cookies from the last four weeks and check the results.

Disable Your Extensions

Then, click again on More options and select Extensions. You should now see a list of all the extensions installed on your browser. Toggle all of them off, open a new tab and check if you can log in to your QuickBooks account.

Update or Reinstall Your Browser

If the problem persists, check for updates and install the latest browser version on your device. Click on More options, go to Help (or Help and Feedback), and select the About option to check for updates. Restart your browser and check the results.

If the problem persists, switch to a different browser. Maybe your current browser version is glitched. Use a different web browser to log in to your QuickBooks account.

Add QuickBooks as a Trusted Site

Check if adding QuickBooks as a trusted site fixes the problem.

  1. Navigate to Internet Options and click on the Security tab.
  2. Click on Trusted sites and hit the Sites button.
  3. Add https://qbo.intuit.com and https://quickbooks.intuit.com/sg/ to the list of trusted websites.
  4. Save the settings, restart your browser and check if you can log in to your QuickBooks account.

Flush Your DNS

Clearing your DNS may help you solve your login problem.

  1. First, close your browser.
  2. Then launch Command Prompt with admin privileges.
  3. Run the ipconfig /flushdns command—hit Enter.
  4. Close Command Prompt, restart your browser and try to sign in to QuickBooks.

Reset Your QuickBooks Password

Several users said that resetting the QuickBooks password solved the problem. First, go to the sign-in page, and select “I forgot my user ID or password.” Then, follow the onscreen steps to generate the password reset link.

If the problem persists, contact the support team. Then, go back to the sign-in page, select I forgot my user ID or Password, and click on Try Something Else. Next, click on Talk to an expert, fill in the required fields, and hit the Submit button to chat with an expert. Conclusion

If you can’t log in to your QuickBooks account, use an alternative login link. Then, clear your cache and cookies, disable your extensions, and update your browser. Finally, if the problem persists, add QuickBooks as a trusted site, and flush your DNS. Did these solutions help you fix the problem? Share your feedback in the comments below.
